New Zinc Nickel Plating technology overcomes post plate deforming issues
Zinc Nickel Plating
Used in automotive applications to give exceptional corrosion resistance to ferrous parts.
Typically plated on components such as;
- Fasteners
- Fluid transfer tubes
- Powertrain - brackets
However plating zinc nickel alloy onto components such as fluid transfer tubes has traditionally given problems when post plate deformed. After this deformation operation current zinc nickel plate traditionally loses a substantial amount of its corrosion resistance.
Enviralloy Niflex 12
This process is specifically designed to deliver
high corrosion resistance even after post plate deformation (more than 720 hours without red
rust even after post plate deformation).
The Process
At the heart of the system is the zinc nickel plating solution, Enviralloy Niflex 12.
This alkaline based plating bath features
new complexant technology which delivers
a 12 – 15% zinc nickel plated alloy with a
unique micro cracked structure.
The deposit is passivated with a trivalent passivate purposely developed to enhance the corrosion resistance of the microcracked deposit.
Specifiers can then decide on topcoats to improve other properties if required.
